Background
John has more than 25 years of experience as a market access, reimbursement, and HEOR consultant and practice leader. His interests include market access strategy, reimbursement planning, valuation, product differentiation, value proposition, health economic modeling, outcomes studies, and payer and provider market research. Through hundreds of engagements for the drug and medical device industries, he has evaluated products in a wide variety of therapeutic areas, with deep experience in cardiology, urology, oncology, rare diseases, and diagnostic imaging.
Education
John received his B.A. from Dartmouth College, with honors in English and a modified major in Native American Studies. He received his M.B.A with a concentration in health services management from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University.
Experience
Previously, John spent 24 years at Covance Market Access, 16 of them as a vice president, where he led consulting groups that focused on market development for new products, health economic modeling, prospective studies, and electronic clinical outcomes assessments. He served as director of market access strategy at DK Pierce and as manager of strategic planning and new business development at Hill-Rom, the world’s largest maker of hospital beds and therapeutic support surfaces. He also held positions at Amgen, Shearson Lehman Hutton, and Dartmouth Medical School.
Overview
At MCRA, John leads projects that focus on coding, coverage, payment, evidence generation, and value communication strategies. He provides guidance on Medicare and managed care payment strategies as well as on developing and executing launch plans for new products. He also works closely with commercial and clinical development teams on strategies to make clinical trials and observational research commercially compelling.
