Akiko Tsubota

Akiko Tsubota has over 20 years of experience in the medical equipment and pharmaceutical industries, with nearly a decade dedicated to Market Access, starting as a health economist in the pharmaceutical industry. Her career is marked by significant achievements in pricing, reimbursement, and market access strategy development. 

As the Market Access Director at MCRA Japan, Akiko brings a wealth of expertise as she leads reimbursement pricing strategy for a wide array of therapy area, collaborates with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) to establish evidence to support revise technical fee. She also contributes conversation with MHLW as a member through activities of med tech industry. 

Her educational background includes graduating from the Health Policy Academy, Health Global Policy Institute and iCLiP® [Clinical Investigator’s Program for Industries] at Kyoto University Hospital’s Clinical Research Education and Training Department. Akiko has extensive experience in heart surgery, neurosurgery, diabetes, oncology, emergency, and neuroscience where her expertise spans market access, strategic marketing, product marketing, and field clinical operations.
